A few weeks ago now I picked up a new book on jewelry design. Like many of you, I too would love to learn this art. I say art because for me there is much more to it than I ever imagined.

It's easy for me to look at a piece whether it's a necklace, a bracelet, or a pair of earrings and somewhat see what went into making it. BUT as I have found over the past year, there is much more to it than that.
I've gathred bits and pieces and now I want to focus, and try and learn this once and for all. I know I can do it, but I also know it will take time, and patience, and practice.

So that's what I'll focus on as I spend my first quiet week alone without Harley keeping me company. I think it's just what I need right now. ... something new to concentraite on.

7 of you had this to say:
D: you have been in my thoughts so much since Thursday. I know all this mends, but only with the hand of time laid gently on it. Hugs from here, N
Hi Dede!
You ought to take my friend Robin's class at Gilding...she is a really awesome, patient teacher. I haven't done any of her jewelry classes yet, that was one of my goals for 2009 but she has been my mentor for all my paper arts and she is wonderful! (It was really nice that she was my neighbor too cuz she has a fun, funky studio at her house also!) Hope you stay busy this week, I'll be thinking about you and Travis! karen....
Wow Dede, you have found awesome pieces. I can't wait to see what you create.
I'm still aching for you and Travis without Harley, but I'm also knowing and looking forward to the good things you'll be producing here.
God's wings to Harley who will always be in your hearts.
xo
