I'm seriously loving white these days...

Those who've met me know I can be quite the outgoing girl. I almost always have a smile on my face, and why not? Life's to short to be anything but happy to my way of thinking!

So it might come as a surprise that our home is pretty much void of color. I have had a serious love affair the past few years with a very subdued color palette consisting mainly of our oak antiques, and a very drab (but oh, so soothing) olive green. 
For the past few months even these admittedly bland colors seem too much for me. I've gone crazy it seems for white. 
Last summer my husband and I lined an oak armoire in our living room with old ledger paper, and we love the effect. 
Now I'm thinking of repainted many of the black frames and mirrors around our house. I use to jump into this stuff with both feet, making up my mind and having projects done by dinner time. Now I ponder, and wonder, think, and rethink it all.
Well what's wrong with me? Carpe' diem, right? Ok... I'm headed to the garage, grabbing some white paint and a few brushes and see what I can do. I also have big plans for some old linen table clothes and my sewing machine, I'm thinking new lamps shades, and table toppers. Wish me luck!

Clearly I am all over the place with this blog design. I LoVe the blog banner Heather made me a few years ago and feel like it's my signature. I've gone back to using it, and am trying yet another background I found here... It may just look a little different each time you stop by.

Now I'm off to read this book which I picked up here today. I have to say it's honestly one of the best art/craft/creative books I've seen in a loooong time. Bravo Amy Hanna!

Yeah or Boo?

I've wanted to change the look of my blog for a bit, but I'm not sure about this. What do you say... Yeah or Boo? Go ahead, be honest. I can take it... I think.

love, love, love...

I don't know about you, but my husband and I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day. Don't get me wrong... we like the sentiment, the hearts, and thoughts of a romantic night, it's just the day itself has never meant that much to us.

We will however celebrate on Sunday, 23 years together. Even then it won't be about what my husband buys me, or I buy him.
For us it's about being together, reminiscing days gone by, looking at old photos from when we were dating, our kids growing up...
and perhaps watching our wedding video. That's just what we do. If I had my way we'd spend the day at the beach under our big umbrella, watching families play in the waves, as my husband napped on our blanket, and I enjoyed a good book. With the rain expected it looks like that won't be happening. Oh, and don't forget good food and drinks, we are all over that! I hope whatever plans you have bring you love and happiness, and a great day spent with those that mean the most to you!

Le Triomphe De L'Amour

The last of the books are going out today. Forgive me, I underestimated the time it would take to wrap these guys up and get them off to you. But at last they are headed your way. I wanted to share a couple of photos of a few of the finished books, so before packaging these last few yesterday, I snapped a few pictures. With the exception of my book in the first photo, these Vintage Valentine's Fat Books are making their way all across the US, and one is headed to Australia!

 Thanks to all of you who participated. Thanks for the chocolates, candles, ephemera, vintage stuffed hearts, mercury glass, little totes and more. You guys sure know how to make a girl feel good. I'm glad so many of you without blogs, and those who were new to this played along. I know sometimes those who haven't participated in things before can find it hard to break into some creative circles. You all did such good work, and were so generous with your creativity. I hope you'll join in more of these, they really are great fun! Perhaps I'll do another later in the year. Thanks again for everything, and enjoy your books.
